A leaking carb from the idle jet just means too high a float level. While you are riding you might not notice it but it still needs to be corrected because it influences the mixture too. Often just rubbing the float needle in its seat helps a good deal. Maybe with some fine grinding paste when it is a persistent case. The carb should be able to keep its contents inside, also when standing still on the center stand.
I went back into the left carb and did what you suggested. On the center stand with fuel on ... dry as a bone. Removing the spark plugs verified the left plug was running rich. Hopefully with all the attention things will settle down.

At 95 miles I went back in, re-torqued the heads, checked the points gap, verified static timing, reset the valves and changed the oil. On a restart I verified the dynamic timing was right on. "S" centered at idle, "F" centered at high RPM's. The oil was dark but free of any debris. The magnetic drain bolt was clean. :-)

Freezing down here in VA this week but it will be in the mid to upper 60's next week. :-)

Thank you. It's been a blast building it.

The new AGM battery came in and is installed. I'm being told the battery box is out of stock so as soon as they come in I will order the box. This is the battery I ordered.

The new battery and battery box is finally installed. It really cleans up the bike and adds to the vintage look. I added a fuse to the + side of the battery and installed a 20amp fuse. If a different size fuse is better please let me know.

Very nice !!
20 amp fuse is good
Can also add a 20 amp fuse inside the headlight positive lead

I went outside with hopes of producing a very nice drone video of the R69S. On my second recording however, the drone crashed. I lost the audio but was able to save the two videos. I hope this works.

Question for you. I noticed that you used a battery box appropriate for the bike. What brand and model 6V battery are you using in it? I've tried to source one locally and cannot seem to find one. Shipping from the EU also seems to be a non starter - although about a decade ago I was able to source a Blitz 6v battery for my R26 from Meyers. Unfortunately they no longer ship batteries.

Vintage Beemer Parts. It fits perfectly.

Thanks. I'll give them a try. At first glance their prices seem reasonable even with the exchange rate b/w US and CDN.

I need your opinion of the "black" Enduro bags on the Dover White R69S. I had them on my black R60/2 and they look great but I can't use them when I'm running a side car. The plan is to keep the side car mounted on the R60/2 and use the Enduro's on the R69S. I'm a little concerned about the clearance between the bags and the exhaust. TIA
