The dreaded Big End Knock at your door

Post by malmac »

I have a second R69s engine. I have had it on the shelf for over 20 years and I recently had an opportunity to throw it into a frame and give it a run.

I had a set of new barrels and pistons to lob onto the engine - which I did.
The engine, if one is deaf, runs beautifully. Starts first kick, pulls nice and strong and is quite smooth running.
But alas, it has the dreaded knock.
Here is a sound file for your ears.

Well now I have to shake a leg and start rebuilding that spare crank I have sitting on the shelf.

I guess I don't my BMW sounds. I don't think I would have noticed anything wrong. ;)
