Turn signal switch question

Post by jwonder »

Stupid question, I know..... I seem to be having a big problem on my R 50 S with the "bat wing" turn signal switch and constantly hitting it with my throttle hand. Every time I twist the throttle I am signaling a right turn, and in NY that means everyone turns in front of you! This does not happen on my R 69 S and I would love to take a look at it, but it is in PA and I am in NY right now. :D

Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

I know it's a moot point now, but were those type of switches in use during the R50S era?, or did they appear with the advent of the all /2 bikes in '61?

Dave,

Mine is a 1961 model, but I think the earlier switch was the chrome one and that is most likely what should be on mine.

From a practical POV I have one of those chrome switches on one of my R 27's and I can never remember which way is right and left, up or down? Maybe I am getting old, or trying not to get killed in the Long Island traffic, but the bat-wing switch is easier to use for me at least!

One note though is that I can always put the chrome one on if I want by using the mount in the same hole.

I can commiserate with you James; same issue with my '60 R69 and its batwing signal switch.
I'm trying to grow my thumb smaller..
