For those of you who have etched a gas tank with phosphoric acid:

Post by Micha »

I have read a lot of material on the subject, including what snowbum wrote -
(https://bmwmotorcycletech.info/fuelmiscl.htm), my problem is that in every reference to the material, the word "solution" is attached and from this I conclude that we are not talking about pure phosphoric acid, but a certain mixture.
Yesterday I got a gallon of clean pure phosphoric acid.
The information I am missing is how much water to mix with the acid? What is the ratio?
Or can I use the clean acid as is?

Another thing I'm not really sure I understood correctly: Is it true that after removing this specific acid from the container, there is no need to go through neutralizing and it can be washed straight with 2 -stroke oil?

Thanks in advance!
