Connecting Rod assembly lubricant

Post by Ziggy »

Cleaned slingers. Preparing to put engine back together. Is there a recommended/preferred assembly lube used to run through the connecting rod oil feed holes?

Just prime the oil system after the crankcase is assembled, sump cover on and oil in the sump. Spin the oil pump with a drill and piece of hose. When oil comes out the feed holes to the cylinder/head, you have everything primed. Otherwise, it takes a shocking amount of time to build pressure from a dry start-up.

I used heavy grade oil (I think it was 90) to oil all the internals before assembly.
Tends less to "disappear" until engine run.
I forced 40 engine oil into all ports, though.
