Headlamp “crown”

Post by PeeWee »

The “crown” in my headlamp misses the two front points for putting the ignition switch plate on.
I totally have overseen that ,and by now the headlamp is already painted so pointwelding is a no go.
Is there a way to repair the crown points or do I have to remove the old crown by dremel or mini-saw.
I already bought a new crown, but if there is a way to repair the old one ,please tell me

While gas welding will probably cause paint problems, a bit of Mig welding should not affect the paint. A spot welder would be even better if you can get the arms in there.

I have solved the problem.
I dremel-ed off the broken “points” , dremel-ed off two of the points from the new crown.
Then I bonded then on the old crown with special metal glue, wich I’ve used before and proved its quality.

The ignition plate fits like a glove .
