Magneto nose

Post by dellatorre6708 »

Have any had success tapping a buggered magneto nose slot parallel , similar to a screw slot, back to a usable condition? I have one that has lots of play with the advance rotor and I think it's giving me differential timing.
Thanks. Frank.

There is a way of dealing with the slop where the advance unit is supposed to slot in. The engine rotates clockwise when viewed from the front. When dropping the advance unit in, rotate it counter clockwise and hold it there while you tighten the bolt down. That way, the inertia of the advance unit pins it there and shouldn't move.

Differential timing can be dealt with once the advance unit is locked down.
