R50/2 Magneto in evaporust?

Post by cderosa202 »

Hey All. New Community member.

I have a parted R50/2 I'm slowly bringing back to life.
Having recently received the magneto and other electrics, some of them are reclaimed and have a bit of rust on them.

I do think Evaporust is an amazing product, and does a great job of removing rust from ferrous materials, and leaving others metals alone, and also not affecting rubbers, plastics, etc.

to derust the laminated stator, etc, I was thinking about dunking it in for a few hours. Any concerns about this?

Let me know. Thanks in advance.

Chris,

I use Evaporust quite often, but I never used it on the stator before. I always use scotch-brite and a bit of elbow grease to clean them up. Never an issue and they work great.

I do not see why Evaporust would not work, or why it would hurt anything, but I never had the need to do it and I have cleaned up some badly rusted units.

Thanks.

Seeing as I've already dunked it, we'll see. Took the condenser, points and other fairly incompatible parts off... and will see how it comes out.
