Hello, im sorry that i only have one picture of it but i thought bmw specialists like you might know by this;

Welcome to the forum! Another picture or two would help. But given the frame, it's either an R26 or R27. But I'm confused with the largish battery stuffed on the side...maybe that's an owner addition.

The R27 didnt have a tin generator cover

Looks like the engine is bolted to the frame
also looks like it has the tag mounted to the steering head should show model and serial #

Once you have the serial # you can send that to

info.grouparchiv@bmwgroup.com

They will tell you when it was built and where it was 1st shipped to dealer

Tommy -

You said that the R27 didn't have a tin generator cover. What did it have and how can one tell the difference, especially in a photo such as what we have?

I look for the engine mounts along with the front cover. The R26 has them on the down tubes and under the engine, the R27's are at the corners of the bottom of the engine with prominent rubber mounts.
