/2 Rear Brake Modification Advice

Post by eagan7096 »

Hi,
I have a weak right foot which causes me to have trouble pressing the rear brake pedal hard enough to actuate it fully. Does anyone have any advice on possible modifications to aid with actuating the rear brake or has anyone had an alternative rear brake device installed for handicapped riders. such as an additional lever? All ideas are welcome. Thank you!

Hi
I very rarely use the back brake on my 1961 R69S . Perhaps another way to go would be to improve your front brake . I have fitted twin discs and find that is more than adequate to stop the bike . My bike is on Page 19 of issue Volume 43 Number 3 August 2019 . Just my thoughts .

I thought of this thread today while reading an article in Sidecarist magazine. The article was about an individual setting up a sidecar on a new R18. That person had a bad right foot as well. His solution was to run a cable from the rear brake arm to a pedal behind the left foot peg so he can shift with his toe and brake with his heel. Shouldn't be too hard to fabricate with the straight forward mechanical system on your R 69.
