Mikuni for R26

Post by Wurzburg »

I'd like to install a Mikuni VM26-606 carburetor on the '59 BMW R26 I'm working on and wondered if anyone could tell what jets and needle I will need for
Main jet
Pilot Jet
Needle jet
Air jet
and Needle

Thanks.

Not a whole lot of VM26 discussion that I've run across. I found this site:

https://www.mikunioz.com/shop/vm26-606- ... 16fd43adaa

I don't know "Mikuni speak" so have no idea what the numbers mean. I suppose, with anything, you start somewhere and see how the bike responds in terms of idle, acceleration, gas mileage, plug color, etc. Then tweak from there.

Thanks for the carb site info.

I also need to know where to find an intake manifold adapter to connect the carb to the intake side of the head.

Talked with Bill Blake at Rocky Point Cycle yesterday and learned he sells a complete Mikuni kit with jets for any locale. It even comes with fuel line and throttle cable.
