Removing carb - 69S

Post by jeffrey »

Never removed a carb on a 69S before. Since there is no rubber sleeve/clamps at the carb end of the air intake tube, how do I get the intake tube out of the way to remove the carb? I tried unbolting the carb, but it won't travel past the studs and I don't want to force it. Thanks in advance...

That's what you have to do, loosen the bolts that hold the carb to the head and then work both the air pipe and the carb back and forth and it will eventually come off.

Hey,

I'll take a shot at describing it:

There is rubber on both sides - an outer one at the airbox, and an inside one at the carb flange.

Work on the carb side first by wiggling and twisting a bit and pulling back/out. Need to free up the stuck rubber. Then the trick is to push the other end farther into the airbox to make clearance as you're doing all this. Once free on the carb side the tube comes out. Do the reverse to put back on.

Thanks! I thought it was something like that but the carb end seemed really stuck...

warming up the inner rubber ring at the carb side makes it easier to wiggle the tube off the carb end.
