1959 r60

Post by cubasteve50@yahoo.com »

Greetings,
New to the site, old rider from the 60's. Can someone explain the major differences between 1959 r60 and r60/2?

Welcome to the forum! For some specifications, go to Knowledge Base at the top of the page, find BMW Models, and click on the two models and see what the difference is. Right away I see a couple of horsepower and maybe a few other things.

But there were some internal improvements, likely some differences in frame gusseting to make the frame stronger. BMW was making running changes before 1960 and then after. Generally speaking, the later the bike the more improvements there were. But to someone just interested in getting into the vintage BMW world, there's probably not a lot there to define the differences. Maybe others will have different ideas.

Here's something by Duane Ausherman...read the section on /2 1955-1969:

Fast. Neat. Average. Friendly. Good. Good.
