Clutch compression ring - home made

Post by Micha »

I found that my ring plate was twisted and had a lot of wear, so decied to fabricate one.
Publishing it here so others can get an idea in the future if they will face such a broblem.
The generous organ donor was a Renault Master van.
A lot of steel was removed, and btw the Israeli made cutting tool by Iscar are mostly recommended...

Thanks Mal.
it came out quite well.
Clutch is now sandvished and all seems to be ok, except that I managed to ruin the 8x1.25 thread of the lower RH tranny part that takes a bolt, not those studs.
I'm now after an heli-coil solution.
Hopefully I will find one, don't want to tap that to 10x1 oversize.

Always another turn in the road, another challenge to over-come. I am sure you will find a solution. There are other options than helicoil - look around, no need to rush.

Micha and Mal - I truly admire your skills at fabricating things. But have to ask - do you ever actually plan to finish your bikes? I'm beginning to think that you feel you're having more fun fiddling around making things than actually completing the bikes. The older I get, the more I don't like projects that go on forever. If I drop over, someone else just has to pick up the pieces. Sorry, just had to get that out - carry on!!
