R51/3-front brake adjusting bolt - pic.

Post by Micha »

After purchasing a new front brake/throttle assembly with a new brake cable, I realized I had a wrong adjusting bolt (I assume that the original front module I found on the bike was taken from of a /5 Series).
Now I came to put on the new assembly with its cable and discovered that the winged adjst. bolt is of the closed type (on its upper wing side), also I am afraid that even if I machine it open, the end of the cable-stop will not pass through it.
I would love to hear if my musings here are at all true or if I just miss something.
I would love to get a glimpse of what BMW this winged adjusting bolt originally came from. Is it a /5 one?
Thank you kindly for any hint or idea.

Looks like it has an old cable ferrule stuck in the end of it. Just push it out.
Thanks.

That is the right adjuster, but like Sherman said, it looks like the ferrule stuck. A picture of my early 1952 with dual shoe brakes is attached below.

Thank you both, that's exactly what it was...
