The updated one is for purchase, I bought it and I will tell you that what I think you need is on page 10 of the one that Kurt included in the thread. I would start there and then look deeper into the regulator. I will look through my sources, but I seem to remember a section on how to test the R27 regulator in the Barrington R27 manual.

I will look later!

i have the barrington manual, will try out the tests soon thanks , FWIW regulator is only 1 year old ? from Vech

FWIW, I found that the generator brushes had worn down to the point that the retaining spring was grounding brush out, I can only assume that was somehow the cause of broken wires , waiting on new brushes
