BMW R6?

Post by mauricedonini »

Hi,

Saw this ad on CL

https://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/mcy ... 86367.html

The ad says it's an R6 but it looks like an R27 to me.

Interesting color.

Any insight is appreciated.

Thank you.

I have a call into the owner/seller.

found this - https://vintagebmw.org/model-lookup/?shownode=7011

The VIN will answer the question.

Interesting color - anyone know if that was a factory color?

Thank you.

I wonder if it's an R26...the seller dropped the "2". Hard to see with the pictures. There was an R6, but it was a limited production flat twin. Can't say about the color...probably is correct.

It looks like a R27, no upper engine mount like a R26.

Always strange when after so many years of owning a BMW you don't know the correct model.

Maybe a Dover White burned because of age?

Here’s what BMW said;

The BMW R 27 VIN 386846 was manufactured on July 20th, 1966 and delivered on January 3rd, 1967 to the BMW dealer MOWAG Schafbrücke in Saarbrücken. The bike was equipped with a bench seat.

The original colour is not mentioned in the books so it was most likely Black.
