Carbs from China

Post by miller6997 »

I've seen a lot of replacement parts from China, but this is the first /2 carburetors I've seen--and for under $80 for a pair. I have no need for them, but who on the list is brave enough to try a pair?

Probably the same

Thanks for chasing down that earlier thread, Kurt. My guess is that these latest eBay offerings are the same.

These carbs are used for R75.

These carbs are used for R75. They are a copy of the original Graetzin carbs. 28 is a bit too big for these engines but they work just fine. Quality is soso but for the low compression R75 they are a fine replacement. I ride a pair and I am happy with it. The hole pattern of the flansch is different between the R75 and the R50 ... so the PZ28 will not work on a R50 without re-drilling the holes.

Carbs manage 2 of the critical components to make the engines run.
I would only purchase a non original reproduction from India, China or other developing country if:

It was the only replacement I could afford, or
There was no other option to keep moving (trip emergency)

Alternatives first

Purchase a brand new unused original Bing carb
Purchased a used, recondition or restored original Bing
Purchase a update version of the original Bing

And if for racing used a racing modern brand of carb.

The link doesn't work, says it is old.

What I am thinking is to replace my working bings, put them on the shelf for a future owner, and use these china carbs for daily use. Is anyone running these. I have an r69 1958.

Thank you

Yeah, that link was from the older vintage forum before we converted to this new format. I think it was referring to these threads:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=15842&p=4466

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=15665&p=34644

I typed "chinese carb" in the search box in the upper right.

Thank you

My searches were for "china".
The reviews appear to be what one expects for $80 carbs. I'll think about it for a possible winter experiment.

As a 1959 R69 owner myself I've got a question.

Is the real value of the carbs just because of the part numbers matching to the original bike?

Are there options for replacement carbs should the need ever arise to have to replace one or both?

Sorry, still pretty new to the world of these vintage bikes
