R60/2

Post by jamesmoc »

I haven't posted here since I restored my R27 about 8 years ago; it is still the most reliable bike I have. But yesterday I became the proud owner of a 1964 R60/2 and I'm delighted to have the larger stable mate for my R27.

It is in poor condition and needs a lot of work to get it roadworthy again. I have been looking for a parts manual but my searches are all leading me to parts vendors. Could anyone direct me or provide me with a pdf of a parts catalog so that I can start compiling lists to order?

Many thanks

James

Check out Uli's in Franfurt, Germany. They've got an extensive catalog and, with the euro where it's at, prices are very interesting. I saved a couple of thousand dollars over US prices when I had my 69S restored, and that was when the euro was at $1.41. Now it's a little less than $1.14. Shipping is a flat rate of 44.50 euros (about $50 right now) to the US for however big the order (sidecars and other heavy items excluded), and orders get delivered within 10 days or so. They respond quickly to emails in English. I've ordered a lot from them with excellent results. Here's their parts listings for /2 bikes:

Also check out Motobins and Motorworks in England, though their offerings for /2 bikes are much fewer, and for stainless exhaust systems, Keihan, also in England. Shipping from these suppliers is also fast, and prices tend to be significantly lower than in the US, even when shipping is included.

all best, Lincoln

Vech at Benchmark Works

Vech at Benchmark Works doesn't have a parts catalog specifically for the R60/2 but I'm sure he carries what you need.

Parts

Post by wa1nca »

I like MAX BMW for most of my parts reference and parts #'s
https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/PartsFiche.aspx

If you need many parts and can wait 10 days you will save a lot of money if you order overseas

Sali's in the Netherlands
https://www.bmwclassicmotorcycles.com/p ... /r50-r69s/

S Meyer in Germany

Ps
PDF files are probably still available but are always outdated and not able to show current additions and prices

Thank for all the replies.

I'm in Ireland and have used Uli's a lot in the past. It was really so that I can have the prints and start marking off parts needed as I go. I find it a good way not to forget items as the order gets placed. I'll get a few pics of the project up over the next few days.

For quality you can't beat the people BMW themselves use. Mark Huggett in Switzerland. He has tirelessly catalogued an amazing number of parts and information which is easily available online. bmwbike.com You can search your model (they have every postwar model). Then you can find individuals parts diagrams with direct link to ordering.

I have found over the years that for quality and originality, Mark can't be beat. Prices will be better than anything you'll find in the states. You may be able to find cheaper prices elsewhere in Europe, but you may sacrifice quality.

I had a chance to visit Mark last May in Switzerland, his facility and parts inventory are second to none.

By the way, he also sells reprints of the original parts catalogues. Probably a good idea to pick one up.
