LED FOR PARK AND BRAKE LIGHT FOR SADDLE BAGS TOO
today i find great solution for park and brake light
you can use LED 12 Volt and , you will need resistir 30 Ohm i use smd or you can use resistor 1/4w
attach is picture
when you press the brake , then go 12 volt direct to LED
when you have position/park light then It works through resistor
regards,Mec

saddle bag lights
So simple
I have a dual bulb on my bags
One side for brake and other side for blinker
With your solution I now can use one bulb for a running light ( you say position/park light) and also brake light !!!
And now I can use the 2nd side of the bulb for a blinker for the left/right side
The dual bulb is now a bad idear on my part as each side draws a different current and I could never fiqure out how to get 3 functions out of a dual bulb
LED bulb is the answer as you can control the current to change the brightness with only a resistor for the running/brake function
A second LED in the saddle bags can now be for the blinker for that side if not overcome buy the brake light
All our saddle bags should have running /brake light and blinker if installed
I will make a wiring diagram and post it soon

I have a different solution
Step one: To do this, I easily removed the contacts for the festoon bulb without harming the plastic backing plate to which they are attached. I then made a half-inch hole in center of that backing plate and inserted a standard 1157 bulb socket from the local parts store ($3). The socket protrudes through the backing plate by about half an inch, so I'll have to drill a corresponding hole in the saddlebag to accommodate it. This alteration will not be visible when the light is installed.
Step two: The red lenses on these lamps are too shallow to accept a standard incandescent 1157 bulb, but a red 1157 LED version (Amazon) is more compact than the incandescent, and it fits comfortably in the space available. The bulb has SMDs all around and on the tip. When I tested the altered lamp with the lens in place, this bulb gave me a nice, bright tail light and an even brighter turn signal. The overall visibility of the light is now much better than I was able to get with the best LED festoon bulb I could find (I tried several).
I also have a set of real Hella lamps for the bags that are better quality than the plastic ones. If my experiment on the plastic lamps works out as I expect, I will do the same conversion on the Hellas, which have sturdy aluminum internal parts.
I'll post pictures when I'm finished with this project.

Here are some pictures of my conversion
This is the Amazon link for the bulbs I used. They are quite bright and not too expensive. The SMDs go all the way around, so the distribution of the light is very good. Time will tell how long they hold up. I have used the same bulb in the coffee can tail light and am satisfied with the improvement over the stock incandescent bulb. My bike has the 12V charging system, so the 12V 1157 is my point of comparison.
Finally, if this link opens for you, you'll see a rough video of the turn signal in action.
I have not yet connected the wires for the running light component of the dual-contact LED bulb. I'll connect those to the tail light post behind the battery so that they are always on when the headlight switch is on.
So far, so good! I have to say it's a relief to be rid of those bloody festoon bulbs.

LED 1157
Didn't like 1157 as they draw more curent and run hotter
Led 1157 should also work with 6 volts as Led's only need 1.6 volts and are stepped down from from the higher voltage but I can test that to be sure
Now Mec's idear with a dropping resistor is great as one side can be tail/brake and the other blinker
So now a dual bulb should work well for tail/brake and blinker!!!
2 or more heads are always better than one!!

Wow, that is quite a difference. I still have not wired my original Enduro bags but would like to. Starting from scratch.

Original Enduro Lights
My installation is now complete, with the 1157 saddlebag lights doubling as running lights and turn signals. I'm satisfied with the way it turned out.

Jon's led replacement bulb
I order the same led you used
On a previous post I stated that this bulb should also work as well with a 6 volt input
I was wrong as the spec's say 9 to 30 volts
I tested it with 6 volts and indeed if was not as bright
I am sure they also make a 6 volt version
But the good news is that this bulb is so much brighter and draws less current
I have mine wired for brake/blinker function
It is so bright !!
I would also recomend this bulb for the main tail light/brake if a 6 volt version is available
Next I will add a small resistor to each brake side and connect that to the tail light signal to drop the voltage to serve as a running light as Mec from Oldtimers has suggeted

saddle bags LED resistor and diode
sometime you must add diode 1N4007 or similar
attach pictures

Hi Jon
I have my bags wired now for tail/brake/directional
Your setup will be real easy to modify
It works great I see you are on
