Laughfter

Post by malmac »

A final word, I think a really "Cool" person does not get fazed if anyone laughs at them.

A try hard person takes them selves way too seriously, so do not take kindly if someone laughs at them.

Still each to his/her own. I try not to laugh at others even if I think they are trying way too hard to look "Cool".

Cool or anachronic..

Post by San Arthur »

I think Davida pudding bowls are of the correct period if riding a 50´s bike.
Obviously a Davida is not as safe as my Schuberth but I love the wind on my face and wearing goggles.

I try to keep my bikes as original or era correct as possible.

Yes, I already change my Bing and Dellorto floats to make them alcohol proof and I´ll never replace my earls forks for springs and hydraulic dampers or my brake drums for carbon disks and brake pads just to make my old bikes safer.

I don´t like mods that make motorcycles louder but my Gold Star with the original muffler, GP carb and one cylinder is louder then most Harleys.

Do you guys think the owner of the attached Pudding Bowl would have win more GP championships if he had wear a full face helmet?

It looked a little dull

Post by San Arthur »

I always thought my beige Davida helmet looked a little dull so I decided to paint it.

I discovered the leather interior is stitched to the bowl.

First I used tape to mark it.

I had a little gold strip a friend gave me some time back and decided to use it.

I used my original black logo sticker as a template for the new.

Clear coat is next, maybe next week.

Gold tape

Post by Captonzap »

How did you get the gold tape to lay flat after making the curves in it.
Every thing I try gets kinks in the inside edge.
Great job

Gold Tape

Post by San Arthur »

Hi Captonzap, is not exactly a tape you can purchase by the foot, is more like a leaf type of material.
After applied you burnish the leaf by spinning on top of it. It looks like a tape because of the spinning. I think the technic is called leafing and spinning. There are some examples on youtube.

You should have checked the legal safety certification before buying the Davida helmet. Since it is not DOT approved, you need to look for DOT approved headwear.
