I would never use any sealer on any oil pan gasket, OEM or not.

No sealant, but all surfaces must be clean and dry or the silicone gasket will squeeze out.

I realize you already have a silicone gasket, I would use a cork gasket with Motoseal from Permatex. The sealant is grey in color and wipes off easy. More importantly than the pan gasket sealing is the bolts sealing. I use Motoseal on the bolts and gasket with excellent results. Without it, oil will weep from the bolts. And of course don't over tighten. If you use sealant, once it sets up don't tighten the bolts anymore. You will crack the sealant.

I just bought some of the silicon based oil pan gaskets from Vech and I have a quick question. Do I use any form of gasket sealer on these when Iinstall the pan?

I never have used silicone gaskets on my /2 but have done so on my Ural valve covers.
Original primitive gasketing from Russia sucked and the cork ENGO ones were not any better.
Someone came of with these silicone ones and I have never had any problems with them at all. That's barring a mechanic friend of mine who over tightened and crushed one of the gaskets which came apart the next time I went to adjust the valves. Have to buy in pairs so I changed only the damaged one. On the other side of the engine I'm still using the same original silicone gasket going on 10 years now.

Here's the odd thing that I had to get over... smearing a fingerfull of oil or gasket sealer on top or under the gasket as I had always been taught. That's a big No-No. Silicone gaskets need nothing and will leak like a sieve if you do that.
Recommended good practice is to clean them and the two surfaces you are mating with alcohol prior to installation. Have to be absolutely clean for them to work properly.
Never, ever a leak of any type.

Thanks everyone, I decided to try these gaskets from Vech because my oil pan was over tightened by the previous owner. I spent a very long time hammering it flat with a a small body hammer and a dolly that I made to fit. I plan to seal the bolts and clean everything very well.

Ha. I agree. Been told they are that color so you can better see any leaks but not sure if that is actually true.
