Interesting that you left the sidecar mounts in place - or are going to use a sidecar?

Dave,
Good question. If I could pick up a good sidecar for less than 4K Id consider it but I don't really have an application for it. In addition I hear it takes all the fun out of riding the bikes.

Im the 3rd owner. Im guessing the mounts were installed for the original owner. Since its all there and it really won't effect the handling of the bike Im going to keep them in place. It certainly makes for a good conversation at the local gas station or hang out.

What a beautiful picture. I love the low bars. I would consider a bar end mirror just to keep the lines low and clean. I would also paint the polished hub caps. Still very striking bike. Michael

Beautiful ride

Very nice, Chuck. Love the enduro bags and low bars. When I finally get to the cosmetics on my '66 I will probably swap the pitted USA bars for the euro bars and new clamps.

Thanks Jim. I also love the "look" of the low bars. Unfortunately for me the ride was very uncomfortable erganomically. It was also more difficult to ride the bike at low speeds and in the twisties. So ..... the last mod I did to the bike was add the high bars and a set of Hella turn signals. The high bars improved my posture and IMHO made the bike easier to ride. Since then I have completed several 200-300 mile days trip without any issues. On the longer trips I also added a padded cover to the solo seat which really helped. The cover slips on and off so its easy to remove when ever you want.

Had to do the same with my low-bars... loved the "look" but they were not conducive for long riding. They were not original to the US model bikes anyway so I restored the high bars. Really makes a difference if you are 6+ feet tall, at least for me. Can ride all day comfortably with no problems. And that's what these bikes were designed to do.
