Good question
I've seen period pictures both with and without side stands. Of the pictures I've seen with side stands, the side stands seem to be of a plain rod design vice the /2 series side stands with the flat welded base. Jeff Dean's site shows several pictures of an R27 with a side stand. It's often difficult to see it as it tucks up behind the exhaust but you can see the tang for it wrapping around the exhaust.
That being said, I've seen both for sale. Some, of the plain rod variety, have been offered for sale on ebay, listed as a rare original type. I have a new stainless side stand that is modeled on the /2 design. By the way, there is no dedicated lug on the R27 frame for a side stand however. The stands that I've seen bolt to the front engine isolation mount.

Pictures of an original side
Works well and folds away neatly.

R27 side stand
If you can't find one let me know . I need to remove the engine soon I will do a drawing and send to you . Not a difficult part to make if you have bracket 11814034132 which is often missing.
