Re: Retouch or repaint?

That's not a BMW part that I can tell...I plug it into RealOEM and it doesn't match anything. It's a Mark Huggett part probably...something that he has designed for the bike. As to your original question, should it rotate or not. I don't think I would like the idea that it didn't rotate with the wheel...seems like it would/could wear on things. Seems to make more sense if it were somehow "fixed" to the rotating wheel.

What does Mark say about the part?

Vech and Blue Moon both have it. I will ask Richard I purchased from Bench Mark.

Oh, and I do believe that the "hub cap" gets bolted on first, then the reverse top-hat, and then small hublet (my term). This allows the small hublet to stay stationary with the axle while the larger hub turns. If I remember it all correctly....
Hope this helps.

Kurt I found the answer, thanks Tommy

I asked BMW info by sending the VIN. In lkess words it says when it was build and shipped to the Mexican Distributor Mr. Rowold and had a bench seat.

Parts almost ready

This afternoon I scuffed the remaining Zanieda sheet metal using 600grit wet/dry paper. I will likely begin taping tomorrow. Then after taping the white stripes, I will spray the white paint and remove all that tape. Then the time will have come to spray clear coat.

Hi
Are you planning on masking for the pinstripes? Just my 2c, My tank was done this way and the rest of the bike is hand done. I really wish I had had the tank done by hand. The taped stripes on the tank are perfect but it does not look right.

Everything started with me trying to clean the tank paint and here I'm, almost 4 years later wishing my tape pinstripes look good enough.
Hand paint never cross my mind, maybe next project. Thanks for your words.

White Lines

A few days will pass before I have the white paint on the gas tank and fenders.

Ran into a problem with the white base coast paint on hand. It would not mix well and was a slight grey instead of pure white. It has been on the shelf to long I guess. I will be making a trip for paint. So, all the masking is done but I could not paint this day.

All parts taped.

Front wheel wobbling

Front wheel wobbling

ImageClick_Image_for_Video

I had to move Zenaida out of the lift to make room for the GS but when I push it I felt the front wheel wobbling, side to side. I’m going to unmount it to check the hub and axle.

It was the small hub or dust cover. The hole was too narrow and wouldn’t let the axle push the wheel all the way inn against the brake.
I’m happy it was an easy solution, I thought it was the hub bearings.
