Avonaire Farings

Post by john »

Avonaire fairings

I have two Avonaire fairings (in need of restoration) and am willing, and able, to offer one free, in exchange for a set of mounting
hardware for a BMW R50 Earls Fork machine

Anybody out there who would be interested.??????

For anybody who may have read the posting I put up for the Cape to Cape Tour, well not good news, t did',t happen for a number of reasons, the main one being arthritis in my wrist made it too painfJohnul. That's life

regards

John,
As a /2 owner who has been through finding a complete Avonaire fairing, with mounting hardware, I wish you luck.
Several years ago I found three separate fairings in great shape but no mounting brackets and hardware??
I found the one in the photo very complete including the dash logo sticker and the headlight pig tail but have since sold it.

I thought the brackets couldn't be that hard to make until I saw them. These would need more skills and equipment than I have.
At least this is what they look like.

Again, good luck in your search.

I am in the process of replicating the hardware to install the Avonaire fairing.I finally found a complete fairing with hardware and have contracted with a former GM engineer that now produces very high end racing bicycle frames.
I have contracted for a prototype and four more sets. I will keep you posted about our progress.

Avonaire fairing braces

Post by kimmsinger »

I have completed the first set of replica braces. They came back from the fabricator spot on. I am now working on fabricating the clamps, which should be done in about 2 weeks.
If anyone is interested in a set let me know.

Post by kimmsinger »

Thanks for the offer of measurements. Very nice looking r 69s .

I have finally completed 5 sets of fairing braces. They are spot on,copied from an original set by a high end bicycle frame maker.
They are powder coated one step below gloss black. 3 sets are already accounted for ( i have 4 fairings).
The photo is of copied set on left, original on right. They are now powder coated black.
Contact me for more information.
