"What makes this bike so valuable?" - Glassman

Post by A. S. Pels »

More rare than a Vincent Black Shadow . . . Vincent made 1700+ Shadows, and those things are bringing more than $100K these days . . .

Hagerty valuation guide gives

Post by elvishimselvis »

Hagerty valuation guide gives 9,600 dollars average price for a 1954 R68. Really can't see them upstaging a Vincent black shadow any time soon.

Rarity is not everything. It

Post by Darryl.Richman »

Rarity is not everything. It can boost the price of a bike, but it isn't the only thing. No matter how rare it is, people have to want to own it.

OTOH, that price from Haggerty is woefully out of date. There were two separate sales of beautiful R68s that went for >$60,000 in 2014 on eBay. Those were top end bikes, but I would expect that even a daily runner would fetch >$20k.

What's a R67 worth?

Post by mackenzie7548 »

With the R68 models now reaching $60,000, what is a R67 worth? The R67/3 are also rare with only 700 produced. There have been a few R51/3 for sale on this forum for about $25,000.

The hagerty price guide is

Post by elvishimselvis »

The hagerty price guide is only new.The prices for other machines seem accurate enough if not for the R68.It gives 55000 average for the aforementioned black shadow which seems accurate enough.I But it is an average, each individual bike would be different value depending on history, condition, originality etc

R68 are in demand most places

Post by Ian R11 »

R68 are in demand most places but Germany seems particularly strong. A friend over there very recently sold one needing restoration for €30,000 and says good ones are fetching mid €50's.
