Shopping for Camshaft for earlyR50 (# 551610)

Post by kenrcruise »

I look in Uli's online catalogue and I see left and right side camshafts (?). List prices are higher (367 Euros) I sent an inquiry.

On meyer.bikes.de I see no mention of left and right, though I see the same part # (0031027) which I presume is the early model. My local shop advises that there were 4 different versions through the years through models R51/3 to R69S. I previously had one shipped to me from NY which was the wrong one, that I shipped back. One version is for use with engines with 'flat tappets.' Which are these? Meyer's has two priced at 119 Euros and one for 199 Euros.

I would appreciate some experience-sharing!

There is only one cam in the R50-R60-R69 series engines. The R51/2 had two cams. From '55 to '69, as far as I know, the R50 and R60 cams were all the same. The R68/R69 cam was unique, as well as the R50S/R69S cam. Actually, I think the R51/3 and R67 series had the same cam as the R50/60. Someone here will confirm or correct.
