Hello All,

I am going to have new spokes made for my 1927 R42.
The ones on the motorcycle right now have a questionable history.
Between the front and rear wheel there are three different spoke diameters.

Anyone out there happen to have a R42 that the can measure there spokes?
Also anyone know if they should be single or double swaged?

Thank you,

Lee Deyoung

Sorry that I deleted your other post that said "drop". I didn't reread the previous post and I thought you were saying "drop this post". My bad!

Here's some info from a p.o. that started restoring an R 42 I eventually ended up with.
Measurements are for a 19" drop center front wheel.
original spoke diameter: .105"
long spoke: 9 5/32" 70 degree bend
short spoke: 6 7/8" 35 degree bend
Rim offset to the inside 1 1/2" of the small end of wheel hub. On the brake side the rim is offset 5/8" to the inside.
I don't have any info on the rear wheel spokes.
Its probably best to send the rims and hubs and these measurements to your favorite wheel builder and see what he thinks.
The notes don't mention if the spokes are single or double diameter. I've seen both.Time for the experts to weigh in.

Thank you for the
