R11 Serie I - IV

Post by Luigi bmwR68 »

...they have the chain of distribution instead of the gears (only R11 R16 Serie V have the chain , six screws instead of four on the front motor dekel)
The gearbox is different and I think the attacks are different but I have to watch..
the internal bearings must be looked at in the manual

(In the picrutes R11 Serie II , you canlooks difference from R12)
Ciao! ;)

The chain driven cam engines

Post by Ian R11 »

The chain driven cam engines have 6 holes on the front cover as Luigi says. Do you have 1934 series 5 engine? The crankshaft is different to earlier gear driven cam R11's along with the main bearing types. Deep grove ball bearings (6207M) in the series 5 and i believe roller bearings in the earlier versions.
The cases for series 5 R11 and R12/17 are interchangeable but have a different breather outlet and different cam followers fitted.
