Serial numbers

Post by deyoung2837 »

Just wondering,

Most of the time when I see BMW frame numbers they have a roundel stamped before and after them.
The couple of R5’s and R6’s from 1937 I have seen the roundels have been omitted.
Was that germane to those models in that year?
I thought I read once that they were but can’t seem to remember where.

I can tell you that my R5 has the roundels, before and after the frame number.

I agree that the rondels should be there. My ‘36 R5 and my R6 have them. Having said that, I have another R6 frame without rondels, but with an “A” suffix. I think this is a replacement frame.
