R12 Barrels

Post by VintageSalesandRestorations »

Hi,

I am looking for a pair of R12 cylinders that have not been sleeved. Some fin damage is acceptable, but nothing Massive.

Anyone have an extra pair they want to turn into CA$H?

I even have a useable pair that have been sleeved to trade - My customer is not comfortable with them.

Please advise - I have R12 spares to trade or $$

Jeff

R12 Barrel

Post by VintageSalesandRestorations »

Hi,

That appears to be an R12 barrel. Late R11 barrels are similar, but most I have seen have a tab, with or without holes, that is used to hold the shift gate. After Series 5 R11 that was not used anymore. Do you have 2 available?

Message me directly or email vintagebmw@me.com

Thanks!

Jeff

Just wondering ? Why is your customer not pleased with a sleeved cylinder ? I have done many while rebuilding car engines and they always worked out well.... better than original surface finish and never ever overheated, as strong if not stronger than original and able to go back to original bore... I would actually prefer to have sleeves than oversize the cylinders...

Joel,

He is from the world of HD and to some in that circle, early barrels with sleeves are "time-bombs" and not be trusted. Since this post, we have decided to go with a nice sleeved pair that became available.

I agree with your assessment.
