Oregon to California July/August 2017

Post by mauicole »

Hello fellow Vintage BMW enthusiasts! I am planning a road trip on my R27 starting in July. I'll be heading down the coast from Portland, OR and ending up in San Diego, CA. While on my journey I'm hoping to attend a vintage motorcycle/car event. Are there any?

If you will be near the Monterey area during car week in August, it is a must do experience. Between the vintage races at Laguna Seca and the auctions and shows, there is something going on every day for ten days. The Pebble Beach Concours is on the last day, but there are a lot of great events before that. One of the highlights is the Carmel Concours on the Avenue on Tuesday. It is free and the cars on display are world class. In any event, if you are traveling south, the Monterey area has some great riding roads. We also have a great new motorcycle museum in Carmel Valley. Look up the web site at "MotoTalbott.com" to see a little taste of what's there. You can also contact the museum for good advice about what roads are the best for riding.

That event is usually on the vintage events page...for some reason this time I forgot to include the latitude/longitude location of the event so the flag didn't show. It does now!!

Monthly Vintage Motorcycle Gathering in SoCal

Post by JakeF »

Two regular monthly vintage bike events you may want to consider during your trip are Venice Vintage Motorcycle Club in Venice, CA, and Vintage Bike OC, which meets in Huntington Beach, CA. VVMC has a monthly meet up and ride. Vintage OC is more of an informal gathering for all types of vintage and antique bikes and owners to get together for a couple of hours and hang out. Check out their websites for details.

You can also stop by the Irv Seavers BMW motorcycle dealership in Orange and ask for a tour of their private collection upstairs. I am sure they would love to see your bike.
