U.K. End to End Airhead Run in July

Post by Beemer54 »

Anyone who can make it is invited to join in on The Land's End to John O'Groats Airhead run starting at L.E. on July 4. If you want to do the full run with us then you'll have to find your own accomodation - or you can just join in for a section or part section. We don't care - we just want to see as many classic BMW's on the road as we can.

For us it's all about the journey, not the arrival, so we've devised a route which avoids motorways wherever possible and takes many diversions to ensure that we're on the best and most scenic biking roads we can find. What's normally a 800 mile run becomes a 1250 mile run as a result. We're not riding as a large group and everyone is free to do their own thing in their own time.

Full details can be downloaded from the website at www.theairhead.co.uk, but here is a brief synopsis of the route:

July 4 - Leave Land's End at 9.30. Take the A30/A39 towards Barnstaple then A361/A399 to Simonsbath. B3224 to Raleigh's Cross then B3190 to Willition. A359 - Taunton and A38 to Bristol

July 5 - Leave the car park next to Bristol central travelodge at 9.30. Take the M4 to Wales then A449 - Raglan. A40 to Cricklhowell then the A479 to Llyswen and the A470 to Builth Wells. A483 to Crossgates then A44 to Penybont. A488 to Colebatch then Welshpool. A483 to Oswestry and the A5 to llangollen. the A542 - Ruthin, A494 - Desside and the A550 to Wirral

July 6 - Leave Wirral Eastham Travelodge at 9.30and take the Tunnel through Liverpool.then southport and Preston. Follow the M55 signs in Preston but head off along the B6241 to Dunsop Bridge, thento Bentham and take the A65 to Kirkby Lonsdale and the A683 to Sedburgh. Middleton Bridge is currently under repair but the diversion is well signposted. Head for Thwaite then take the B6270 - A685 - A595 to Whitehaven

July 7 - a 'day off' where no routes are planned but everyone is free to do their own thing and explore the Lakes

July 8 Leave Whitehaven Premier inn at 9.30. Head towards Carlisle then take the A69 through Chollerford and on to the A68 to St Boswells and the A699 to Selkirk, then Peebles and Pennicuik, Quuensferry, Kincardine and Stirling Holiday Express
