Konrad, you will never meet a harder core bunch of enthusiasts focused on using the machinery as the maker intended than the Cannonball crew. I can't say that they're much into "keeping them gleaming over time", but they do keep them running and take them out on the road.

One thing I enjoy so much when I have the luck to travel in Germany is the sheer number of vintage bike rallies held in the summer. On any weekend you can easily find a one or two day ride in pleasant countryside among fellow enthusiasts, regardless of rain or shine, putting a couple hundred kilometers on their bikes.
