Well, I wish it was more retro BMW and less American Cruiser overall.

I had a test ride while stopping in to pick up some parts for my R Nine T, and really enjoyed it. So much so, that I rented one for a week in January. After riding across a good bit of Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, and back into CA for Death Valley on my way to drop it back off, I had very few complaints.

I had the Classic variant, which has soft bags, driving lights, and a surprisingly good wind screen. In the end, I don't think I would be able to find a good configuration for the floorboards and gear shifter. The dang thing required me to lift my whole leg to down-shift.

Other than that, it was a wonderful ride on the highway. No issues getting over the mountains, and it definitely had a dominating road presence. The mild torque lean on my R80 and R Nine T are nothing to the roll this will throw out if you give it the beans at a stoplight though. Took a little time to adjust to that, then it was just fun.

I might wait until they are in the sub-$10K range and pick up a used one, but am passing for now.

The R18 is just way too big. It's gone the way of the US pick up trucks, they're gigantic. This is what I wish they would build, a real retro. Or the R7 replica.
