Remove Windscreen to Clean
Remove Windscreen to Clean
Looks like you have to drill out the rivets to take the windscreen off. Then, I assume, you need some kind of special tool to refasten the windscreen with new plastic rivets - assuming they are readily available.
I just want to clean up/detail the bike. Is that what you guys go through to get the job done?

Re: Remove Windscreen to Clean
Now, this is not a stock part, but I used brass book screws to hold the windshield on the the dash and fairing of both of my R90S's. This makes the removal much easier and the book screws are reusable. The other advantage to them, versus a conventional nut and bolt is that if you get the proper length of book screw, they will bottom out, and it will not crush the windshield and make it crack on the mounting holes.
This is what I am talking about, a picture is worth a 1000 words... Book screws are available in brass, steel and aluminum. I preferred the brass ones, but that is just me...
