Post by rd400f »

Hi
Would anyone have a DXF or any other format file for an exhaust nut spanner?
Thanks
Richard

So, this post is up for a bit with no replies, Not to be a jerk but are you thinking of making an exhaust spanner wrench? They really are not that expensive and are still available from various sources. St.

Hi
Yes I see that I can buy one.
But with access to Laser cutters and a Waterjet I really should make one myself.
I will draw up a spanner and post the files on here.
Just got busy at work...end of financial year and all that.
Thanks
Richard

Must be nice to have such things at hand, there have been times in the past I could have used such things. Sorry, I don't have the file or dimensions. I wouldn't know how to measure my wrench to make sense for you. Good luck in your quest. St.

There are several versions of this exhaust nut wrench. There is the very complicated one with a handle. I have one but somehow...and I don't remember how it happened...probably dropped it...but the handle is cracked all the way through and I used steel straps across the crack to hold it together. My wrench is aluminum as I recall.

There is another one that is used with a standard 3/8" socket wrench. The part that engages is just a flat piece. Duane shows it here on this page:

I'm not sure if this flat one is better or if it engages enough of the fins. Certainly, it has far fewer "teeth" than the one with the built in handle.

Hi
I finally found time to draw and make the Ex Nut spanner.

But I cannot attach DXF or DWG files.
If anyone wants a copy then just PM me.
Thanks
Richard

Hi
I sure am going to miss the Waterjet cutter when I retire to my bit of land.
Back to the grinder and hacksaw :)

I worked as a research technician bringing new B&W film and paper to market. Boy do I miss the toys I had then! Nothing like free film processing and printing. So I can get a feel for giving up the water jet cutter.

You did a nice job. St.
