Brett's picture shows how the adjustment is made at the master cylinder. What is not there is the use of a special tool that should have come with our tool kits but likely has disappeared. It is a u-shaped feeler gage that is 1.2mm thick. Snowbum has a picture and description of it on his website about halfway down on the page in Section 4.0:
