Headlamp Switch

Happy thanksgiving to all.

My ignition switch is not longer working, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
After inspection it looks like someone open it and is really in bad shape.
It's time to get a new switch.
Originals are super expensive or not longer available. Any suggestions?

Also should I get the 5 or the 3 position ignition switch?

51 25 1 233 276 or 51 25 1 243 273

Thanks

A '76 R90S takes the 3

A '76 R90S takes the 3 position switch. The 5 position switch was for the '74 bikes that had no light switch on the handlebars.

Another option is to wire the ignition on and use the kill switch and light switch to shut off power.

I don't recommend the kill switch be used as an on/off switch as it was not designed for constant use. It is not built sturdy enough for that purpose.

There is a switch on the market:https://www.euromotoelectrics.com/produ ... tch273.htm

I am not sure if it is the five position one, most likely it is the three position one. St.

It is the 3 position, 5 blades switch.

EuroMoto Electrics is funny sometimes:

BMW List Price $149.90
EME Price $199.00

Looking at Max BMW's fiche, I see the part listed as NLA. I have found with some dealers and even with the BMW heritage site, NLA parts are still listed as available. Max, is good enough to update their site. The BMW heritage site may list the part as available at different dealers, that does not mean they have the part in stock.

So, the price difference between the BMW site you are on may just be because they have not marked it as NLA. The listed price means nothing.

I am sure besides EME, there are other possible sources for the switch, They were the first to come to mind. St.
