Steering damper installation

Post by JakeF »

When reinstalling the plate that holds the steering damper do the teeth go towards the higher forward position or towards the lower rear position. It was so long ago that I took the old damper off that I forgot and the manual does not say which way to reinstall it.

Jake, I can't remember off hand, but rotating the steering knob at the handlebar clockwise should transition from positions 0, 1, 2.

Doing so, should move the ball below the triple tree from center to the left side of the bike, in positions 1, 2. (position zero, ball should be centered).

I hope that helps. If not, I can look at my bike in a day or so and report back.

It's usually said that the online parts images are not necessarily how things are installed, but maybe looking at it might help??

I don't know why I didn't think of this. Makes complete sense. Installed it this past weekend without a problem.
