Private message box

Post by srankin »

So, I am looking at a long list of private messages from over the years and decided to delete them.

When I mark them all as done at the bottom right hand corner, they all get a check mark. So far so good but, when I hit the delete button, I get a message saying it is forbidden or something?

What am I doing wrong? St.

Not sure what you mean by the "delete button". Once you've check marked one or more, you then go to the box above where you marked all and scroll to Delete Marked. Finally, you would hit the Go button. Is that what you were doing/

I got a message "The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again."

Not for nothing a typical software designer/engineer message. They know what it means, me, I have no clue.

How about a reply along the lines of "Hey you need to do step 1, 2, 3 before 4, LOL. St.

I get the same error as well.

Honestly we need to upgrade the forum as we are fairly far behind in versions. Yes, it has only been 1 year since we launched the new forum and its already well back-dated.

I have not wanted to do it right now and was waiting for the winter as I do believe it is not going to be as easy I would like. I am also sure this problem is fixed int he new version.

So, if we are okay waiting for a bit I can get this done in a few months.

Note that the message system holds the last 50 messages in your inbox...same with the sent box. So, as new messages come in, the older ones will be deleted to make room for the newer ones. Self cleaning!

Self cleaning, I like that. LOL, this forum may be a bit in need of upgrading but, for 99.99% of the time it works fine. One of the nearby BMW clubs still has current news on their web site from 2003, no one apparently looks to update that site.

You guys do a great job with this site. Be thankful I am not involved with keeping it up or it would be down more than up. St.

Thank you for your good words.

I am planning on upgrading everything this winter, but it means upgrading about 25 different components and I will be doing them 1 by 1 in case we create problems we can back out.

I will let everyone know when I start the upgrade process.
