Easiest way to add images and files

Hello all,

I have had several questions about adding images to the posts and I figured I would put instructions on how I do it here. There are a few ways to attach images, but this is the easiest and fastest way I have found.
  • First click on the "Attachments" tab under the window where you write your posts.

  • As you are writing your post, and you want to put an image inline, you can select where you want the image to be inserted by simply clicking "place inline" next to the image you want to attach. You will see an [attachment] tag come up with your filename.
You can choose to leave the attachments as attachments and NOT put them inline in your post. If you do not inline an attachment it will just be attached to the bottom of the post and users will be able to see them there. (see below)

You can also drag and drop images to the post message box, but I like the "add files" functionality better. That is all personal preference and up to you!

I hope this helps!!!

So I've tried everything I know and when I attempt to post photos they are all rotated 90 degrees CCW. I even rotated them in my files to compensate and they still end up wrong. Any ideas? Thanks!

Dave -

I've heard of this issue and it almost totally seems to be from pictures taken with iPhones. Something to do with the embedded orientation information is missing or wrongly coded by the iPhone. I have no problems at all with my Samsung. I'm not sure there's any solution other than to find the right things to do before uploading.

Kurt is right, it is not an easy issue to fix and it does have to do with the EXIF information in the photo itself.

Thanks for the explanation on posting images. One question is that when I post one picture that's fine but I can't seem to post a second picture ?

Two photos...when going to the Attachments tab to add photos, hold down the Ctrl key and click the multiple photos you want to upload. Then submit your post and the other photos will be there. That's what I did on this post.

Hello James,

Hope all is well! Can you please add somewhere one the Attachment section what the file size limit is? I struggled with it for a while as I kept getting a generic HTML error when trying to upload :)

Best,
Colin

This picture is 5Mb. There is no "earthly" reason to add images this size. Generally 1-2Mb is way more than enough.
