Erik -

Don't see why not...as long as the input and output flanges will match up. This page by Jeff Dean (and others, I'm sure)

http://bmwmotorcycle.home.att.net/r25-3.htm

as well as the Bing manual suggest that a 24mm carb was installed. Not sure what a "SAWE Type K 24 F" carb is. There's also the cable attachment that you'll need to figure out. The Bing manual calls for specific jet settings...you might have to experiment some to find out the optimum settings. I haven't seen any cross references of Bing to Mikuni settings. Start with the "stock" settings for the Mikuni and see how the bike performs and the plug looks.

Thanks Kurt. I've seen references to the Mikuni for this application but never more than just a reference; no specifics.

For $48 shipped I ordered the Mikuni via ebay so we'll see what happens (bike has a lot more sorting to go through though).

Can i use a Mikuni 24mm carb on my R25/3?

Hello all-
Recently came into ownership of a '54 R25/3 and the carb is MIA. Would the Mikuni 24mm carb do the trick? It appears to mount in the same way and is dirt cheap (quite a few new on ebay for $40 +/-).

If it would work are there changes that would need to be made to it (jetting)?

Thanks in advance for any assistance-

Erik

I 'd the Mikuni as temporary

I 'd the Mikuni as temporary solution only... The look of a modern carburetor doesn't fit to the old engine...
