bike tools suggestion

Post by halen66 »

Hi there.

We are statring a small bike workshop for the local yoofs in the Crawley area.
I’ve been looking around for a set of tools to get us going and getting a bit lost as to what to start with. Is Park Tool stuff really the best kit to go with? If so which set should I get? I think we’re going to go for 2 stands and 1 set of tools at the beginning.
We’re on a budget as it's a charity thing so we want to get as much as we can for as little as we can spend.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm totally baffled by these random posts from users who seem to think this is a bicycle forum? These guys are discussing which bicycle tools to purchase to open a bicycle shop.

Here are some essential bike tools that every cyclist should consider having:

Bike multi-tool: This is a compact and versatile tool that combines several tools in one. It usually includes Allen wrenches, screwdrivers, and a chain tool.

Tire levers: These help you remove the tire from the rim without damaging the tire or the tube.

Patch kit: This kit contains patches that you can use to repair punctured inner tubes.

Floor pump: A floor pump is a must-have for keeping your tires properly inflated.

Chain lubricant: Keeping your bike chain lubricated is essential for smooth and efficient pedaling.

Bike stand: A bike stand makes it easier to work on your bike, whether you're cleaning it or making repairs.

Cable cutters: These are essential for cutting bike cables to the right length when installing new brakes or shifters.

Spoke wrench: A spoke wrench helps you adjust the tension of the spokes in your wheels.

Torque wrench: A torque wrench is useful for ensuring that bolts and other components are tightened to the proper specifications.

Chain whip and cassette lockring tool: These are specialized tools for removing and installing cassette lockrings.

Get Back Whip: In case of emergency" to swing at anything that was causing a threat to the biker, hence the name get back whip.

Having these tools can help you keep your bike in good condition and handle minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
