1975 BMW R60/6, foot peg rubber covers removal

Post by motaman38 »

Hi,

I am trying to pry off the driver and passenger rubber covers from the footpegs, and this
is proving to be difficult. Should they be cut off? Please advise?

For handlebars, I've heard of people using an air hose to force it between the grip and the bars. Might work on a footpeg. If you're replacing them anyway, just use a sharp Exacto knife to cut them off lengthwise.

As Kurt said; if you are replacing them, just cut them off.
OTOH if you want to reuse them, it is easier to remove the whole footpeg.

Though there is a discussion about taking the old foot peg rubbers off, who has advice on installing new foot peg rubber specifically the round peg rubber found on /2 motorcycles 46 71 1 235 428. I've used hairspray for grips...

WD-40 (not a joke). Sets up in about 15 minutes. Used it for years.
