R69S or other BMW Unique Builds

I have been looking around for some custom BMW builds for some time now. I have recently inquired a 1967 BMW R69S and instead of restoring it back to the original look, i wanted to give it a face lift with some newer technology. I have found a couple builds that i have bought my eye and mainly was wondering if anyone on here has done such a build?

These things are always a personal choice. I might suggest keep the R69S as is...at least update it mechanically with the patina showing. Then, find bikes that have already been parted out and pull together the pieces to make the bike you want. That way, two bikes result from the effort!!

I agree, keep an original matching number bike original. Its easy to buy a R50/2 or R60/2 and customize it.
Matching number R69S will only go up in value if you keep it original and by customizing it the value will go down. Its personal choice but
I would prefer to build a custom bike out of a mix of parts, keeps the cost down and the value up. Plenty of non matching bikes out there to build something cool. Just my opinion for what its worth!

I don't often customize bikes, instead, I create. I often start with things that literally have been thrown away. One of the creations that I have made was loosely based on a 1967 R60/2. The only thing that made it an R60/2 was the engine case, I had a title for it. The engine case was cracked and had some "extra" holes in it but, it was a starting point.

This is what I ended up with,......
