Any ideas how I can freshen-up the frame without pulling the engine?

I tried that twice. I was only going to paint the tank and fenders and just touch up the frame. The more I touched up the frame the worse it got. Ended up with two frame up restorations.

Re: Knee Pad Adhesive and Fuel Petcock Orientation?

I used 3M Emblem and Trim Adhesive on my tanks. So far so good.

Re: 1971 R75/5 Partial Restoration

Those numbers sound OK. Certainly as part of any overhaul, the break-in process recommends a number of head bolt retorques and recheck of clearancws. I agree. Im constantly going over all the nuts and bolts. If the sound changes I will certainly check them again. You should have heard it before the...

Re: Custom R90S /5 for sale

Beautiful bike but the R90S was only built for 2-3 years starting in 1974. I would run the VIN number to clarify what you have which is probably an R90/6.

Re: 1971 R75/5 Partial Restoration

When we replaced two of the push rod seals we re-torqued the heads, checked the timing and set the valves to .004 intake and .008 exhaust. Clymer M502 page 106 was my source. Sometimes videos make them sound different. In person they don't seem too loud. Do you think I should go back in to check the...

Re: 1971 R75/5 Partial Restoration

Thanks guys .... Most of the leaks are now fixed. I did however need to use a small amount of Permatex to get everything sealed up. The oil pan was a different story. I found 6 stripped bolts out of 14. They all required M6x1.0 helicoils. It wasn't fun but they all went in without an issue and seem ...

Re: 1971 R75/5 Partial Restoration

Thanks guys..... I put another 10 miles on her today. She is smooth, peppy and a pleasure to ride. The biggest issue I have is a leaky gasket at the final drive/drive shaft. The book calls for 100-150cc of gear oil but I can't find a torque setting for the 4 nuts. I hate just clamping down in fear o...
