Flywheel - to balance or not to balance? This is the question

I know that during the motorcycle production, this wheel was balanced.
The question is, today, after about 70 years, should I invest time and money and find someone who knows how to test and true it?
Or is it an unnecessary action?
Have any of you ever done this before?

R51/3 - Front Crankshaft Bearing Cover Assembly question

As part of the front main bearing assembly process, with its bearing cover/house, there is a provision that says it should be heated and then mounted on the crankshaft. Will cooking the entire main bearing house (with bearing and shield assembled inside) in engine oil make the inside race of the bea...

Twocams gave great advice. I

Twocams gave great advice. I don't think its a must to totally remove the cylinder and unscrew the stud. Try to see if you can pull the cylinder out but not to the end so that the piston with its rings will stay seated inside the cylinder (support them in some way). Leave the stud inside its place. ...

R51/3 - Best place to find mufflers?

When the budget is low, I know there is someone in Poland who produces replicas and of course there are the guys in China who make for the local market. Would love to hear from experience how are the Polish guy's products? And does he really make it or buy them from China? Does he have a website? Sh...

Correct way?

Good evening, If I got it right, the assembly order goes like this: main bearing, splash ring with its protruding side towards the bearing/motor, oil seal, wave washer. Today at work (where I assemble the motor as I have all necessary stuff for it) I noted that I forgot to bring with me that splash ...

My R51/3 has also 4 bolts on

My R51/3 has also 4 bolts on the pump gears area, but what bothers me most is that the oil pump nest was sand blasted.
In general, I don't think that such an exact machined front bearing cover should be sand blasted.
