Re: Rebuilding an F750

Dad designed and built a breather box that fits nicely under the engine cover. There were several on the market, but decided home made solution would have more volume.

Re: Restoring #163

Sorry, not gonna be able to help on this one. Clutches on the original race bikes where on the bottom like a stock bike. Whoever made those mods it was long after the bikes left care of my dad.

Re: Rebuilding an F750

Bodywork is back from the painter, we're very happy with the results. Unfortunately the wrong plexiglass was sent when we bought fairing last year so working with supplier to remedy. Main thing left to do is mount oil cooler. Bike should be ready to start soon.

Re: Rebuilding an F750

Things are moving forward, the fairing is at the painter so we should have some nice body work soon. The bike is a clearly hybrid of the old and the new. Last year I pryed the fork reflectors off because they didn't go with the theme. Dad recently made some nice plates to fill the void left. I think...

Re: Restoring #163

Here is a pic of the brackets as requested. On the cases used there were casting pads for an old style starter motor. The aluminium is thick there so basically drill 8mm holes then locktite in the studs. Pics you posted show the detail.

Re: 1972 R75/5 racer mod ,

I suggest you read all of Snowbums web pages within this site to get yourself calibrated. Here is a link with photo of a lightened flywheel. https://bmwmotorcycletech.info/lightened-flywheel.htm As for a roller cam, well that's a totally custom thing, you'll need to see if you can get someone to gri...

Re: 1972 R75/5 racer mod ,

Emmanuel, Those are all good questions. The only limit on modifications are your time and budget. You didn't mention which class your going for at Bonneville as that might dictate some of the mods. To list just a few potential engine mods... Lighten flywheel Dual plugs Re-angle and or shape intake p...

Re: Rebuilding an F750

Keep in mind our bike has a 650 LS engine. The head inlet has same size OD as the carb outlet so it's a straight fit. In your case you have 2 different sizes. https://www.amazon.com/Fernco-P1056-125-4-Inch-Stock-Coupling/dp/B00077PW22/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1AL0LJRE1M7H2&keywords=Fernco+1-1%2F4&qid...

Re: Rebuilding an F750

Carbs are Mikuni TM38 flatslides as you noted. Manifolds are rubber PVC couplers from local hardware store cut short as possible to minimize flex but not allow carb to touch head. After final installation carbs get safety wired to bike to protect from flying off should I somehow kick them loose.
